Haven’t been to Northcote for 11 years & came away disappointed. Advised before arrival to park in car park at rear- not the welcome expected….”greeted” by an automated intercom then having to cart luggage over mud & stones! Room not ready so had a drink in bar. Sandwich not great, overpowering mayonnaise with not much ham & ginger biscuits with coffee were stale & had obviously been stored for a while. Building looking tired & dated. Bedroom needs attention, chipped furniture, broken appliances & curtains need attention. Given courtesy glass of bubbles to then find charge on bill when checking out! Bed very comfortable & room clean. Bathroom well stocked & very large with bath & shower. Meal at night part of Obsession. Good food but service very chaotic & felt like some staff brought in for night & hadn’t worked in a restaurant before. Some staff described the dish to us while on 2 occasions it was dumped in front of us with”there you go, enjoy” Breakfast was excellent. Waiter fantastic, very professional (George) & so much better than service at dinner. Cheese soufflé did not disappoint. Overall a disappointment and feels like Northcote has been left behind the times. The building has lost its beauty & character & food is just good with chaotic service.

Attended Northcote Obsession 26 for meal by Jorge Paredes @OMA . 6 course meal was amazing, could not fault it. Rooms - room 14 was ok but in need of a refurb and that is why I have marked Northcote down to 4. Apparently the room is scheduled for refurbishment shortly, they should not be charging full price for this room. Shower is very small ( bathroom is humongous and could easily have a much larger shower. Service charge - a particular bug bear of mine. Charge was £60 (10% of the meal and wine cost) I did ask for it to be removed and it was no questions asked but why do restaurants do this. Would we come again - hell yes this place is fantastic and we love coming to Northcote

Wonderful stay at Northcote, enjoying the January overnight break offer. The food, as ever was amazing, starting with the evening meal, so creative and flavoursome. The breakfast was great, with a lot of choice and we also thoroughly enjoyed our cream tea, which was part of the deal. Great service throughout (a special mention to Bailey, on the bar, for organising our extra weak coffees etc), lovely quiet room with loads of thoughtful touches - we will definitely return!!

We booked the gourmet dinner and overnight option. Food was excellent and service was generally relaxed, helpful, friendly and efficient. The wine waiter was attentive. Our room was large, well equipped and comfortable. However the bathroom plumbing was not all it should have been. Water pressure was very low (over 20 mins to run a 3/4 full bath and the shower was very weak). Plumber needed to work on the toilet next day. That said, we were told that a major refurbishment is due to begin in a few weeks, so all the above should be addressed.

Our room definitely needed an update , stayed in room 6 .Bathroom had many repairs needed looked a little bit unloved , curtains definitely needed attention at the cost of our stay didn’t expect this. I think the room needs attention at this price as many people save to do a special occasion.

Absolutely superb from start to finish, I can't thank everyone enough for a fantastic stay. Our Obsession 26 night with Spencer and Jason was just sublime, delicious! Everyone working in Northcote is an absolute credit to the business. Thank you so much!!!!

We were fortunate to book an Obsession evening. As ever the staff, service, rooms and food were outstanding. We have been coming for a long number of years and would strongly recommend a break here, you wont be disappointed.

Just returned home from yet another amazing stay at Northcote. We went for Obsession and stayed overnight. The experience was amazing, the food delicious and beautifully presented and service as always impeccable through all sectors of the Hotel. Craig was his normal friendly self with one eye on client satisfaction the other on ensuring the operation was being delivered to Northcote’s highest standards. The chef of the night Ricki Weston came to each table at the end for a chat which was lovely. Lisa Goodwin-Allen and her team did an amazing job supporting Ricki. Forth stay at this venue - look forward to the next one!

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of November on a gourmet break prior to my nephews wedding. The room, a junior suite was excellent, comfortable bed and plenty of room, a nice touch was having fresh milk in your fridge for making tea or coffee. The 5 course meal on our first night was excellent, great food and service. On our second night we were lucky enough to be able to attend an evening with two Master Sommelier's in the Louis Roederer Room, hosted by the MD Craig Bancroft. A six course meal with two wine pairings per course, excellent. We had a great time and met some wonderful people. The location was great, easy to find and close to Clitheroe. We did a lovely 7 mile circular walk the one day down to the River Ribble. We would highly recommend for a luxury gourmet break.

A special weekend with family to celebrate my husband's birthday. On arrival we were greeted immediately by lovely staff who whisked our bags away and guided us into the lounge for drinks. Service by the bar staff was slow and we had to ask for someone to come and take our order. Later, as requested, we met downstairs half an hour before dining and were shown into the snug. Sadly the service was very slow with one of our party having to find a waiter to take our drinks. There was then confusion regarding a bottle of champagne my daughter had ordered, with the waiter serving telling us it was a complementary bottle. As we were still waiting for our table, a round of further drinks were ordered which finally arrived as we were being shown to our table. Then dinner, the Gourmet menu which was wonderful. From the first snacks to the last chocolates it was a joy. Staff were helpful, friendly and our wine waiter was particularly excellent with a great sense of fun. After a night spent in a truly comfortable room we came down to breakfast and following initial orders of tea and coffee, again had to wait a long time for our breakfast order to be taken. During breakfast, having various types of coffee, our table was awash with cups which no one attempted to take away once finished meaning we had a very crowded table. Check out was straight forward with a great member of staff sorting our vouchers, different room charges etc. In summary, we loved the cosy atmosphere of Northcote and all our party agreed the dinner was one of the best we had ever had. It was just the slowness of service in the bar and at breakfast that marred a memorable stay.
