The best Thai food in the area. When we want thai food, this is our go to place. Also the chef is an absolutely lovely Woman and we have often chatted to her. The waitresses are great too.
Had an amazing Thai meal at this pub. The food is authentic Thai and the ribs are to die for. So tender. Teriyaki chicken noodles were so tasty. The Panang curry was amazing. The chef ( who is Thai) came out and spoke to us and checked we were happy and advised on menu choices. Great choice of beers and really reasonably priced. Will definitely come again.
A character packed pub in a character packed village, run by lovely friendly characterful staff. Will definitely be back. Had a great chat with Lindsay in the morning who made a great breakfast. She is also chef for the full blown Thai menu which looked fantastic.
We had a weekend break in West Yorkshire and based ourselves here whilst visiting Halifax, Hebden and Calderdale. What a great find this was. We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived by our host and the locals. Seriously cannot fault the place, comfy bed, good food and a cosy atmosphere. Well done Terry, Sara and all the other staff, and of course Welsh David for letting us share his birthday with him. Definately be visiting again in the future. Steve and Anita (Norfolk)
We stayed for two nights on January - and overall we enjoyed our stay, room was large and bright with a comfy bed and huge bathroom with a bath. The staff were always friendly and helpful and breakfast was good- yes there is room for improvement but I’m sure they will get there with that- yes would recommend for stay while in the area -
Some improvements could be made regarding the furniture and the decor. Needs some updating. However we did enjoy our stay. A very friendly and helpful barman, not sure of his name. Comfortable bed, and the room was big. Lots of choice on the tea tray. Loved the breakfast choice, but could have been hotter. Good coffee. The location pleasant. The hill not for the faint hearted.
I hate to leave a poor a review, however I notice that there aren’t any recent reviews for the Cross Inn and it is not good! We arrived just before 3pm, the pub doesn’t open till 3 but we were let in by the friendly owner. A lovely young lad took our details and served us a drink on the house. Assisted us with getting a taxi into town and gave us recommendations on where to eat in Hebden Bridge All good so far…However… It has a dirty scruffy feel about the whole place . The carpet up the stairs to our room is filthy as was the handrail! We stayed in room 4 , it smelt musty and tired looking. We were next to the kitchen ( which is upstairs ) and so pots and pans banging late into the evening. Shower is over the bath and so have to climb in, ok for us but anyone with mobility issues would definitely struggle. Breakfast was self service but not in good way. Toaster knob broken, beans in a slow cooker, shrivelled bacon, rubber eggs and I have no idea what the sausages were but tasted awful! All luke warm, and a kettle and milk just plonked on a table to make tea. We both just had some toast & jam in the end. It really was a mess. Why they can’t make breakfast to order I have no idea, as we were asked when we arrived what time we’d like breakfast. We ate at 9am but I heard a couple after us say 10 am , so that food is sitting there for another hour?? Not good! It’s such a shame as it is a beautiful looking pub (from the outside) and village and the owners are very friendly but both me and my husband agree it’s the worst place we’ve stayed in. ??
