Great location and nice property but poorly managed. Non functioning shower and dining is pretty sketchy even though the dining hall is quite well decorated.

Had a very bad experience at Svatma. The restaurant manager is very rude. They have the same menu of buffet every morning, owing to the fact they make food in bulk and serve it on all days of the week. Although the hotel is completely veg, but the resturant would ensure that you eat flies and insects in the food, for obvious reasons that they serve the same food for all days. No bathroom slippers, no basic toiletries. They lack the basic courtesy of apologizing for their sheer unprofessional attitude. Attaching the photographs for the reference of travelers

Zimmer ohne Tageslicht und ein Restaurant mit einer fiktiven Speisekarte. Das heisst die meisten Speisen gibt es nicht.

La primera impresión es Wow. Una decoracion excelente, una ambientación y puesta en escena fantástica. Pero es casi lo único bueno. Llegamos y no funcionaba wifi. Tampoco la TV en el cuarto. Después de 4 horas solucionaron lo primero. Y después de dos intentos lo segundo. También tuvimos problemas con la caja fuerte. El minibar vacío. Solo disponible té y café en la habitación. No teníamos ni batas ni pantuflas. Amenities escasas, faltaba acondicionador para el pelo y el único jabon era de muy mala calidad. Estuvimos dos noches hospedados y nunca limpiaron el cuarto. Tampoco ofrecieron toallas limpias. O reponer el agua mineral de cortesía. Muy deficiente todo. Una pena porque la infraestructura es muy buena.

Service was poor. They were terribly under-staffed. Very poor housekeeping. Pity that despite the gorgeous heritage property that it is, it falls back heavily due to their indifferent staff and poor housekeeping services. The sheets were stained, bathrooms sticky. Towels smelly. Phone calls to the reception never answered. Card machine did not work at check-out. Restaurant staff sweaty and haggard. 90% on the restaurant menu wasn’t available. Spa and gym were non- operational.

Svatma is a very likeable high end property. The decor is done tastefully and reflects the traditions and history of Thanjavur. Food in the restaurant was quite good as well. When we called to book, they took down details, called back to confirm, asked about our guide requirements and actually connected with the guide, whom we engaged. However they had not registered our booking and were surprised to see us! They did not have the suite that we had booked but put us in a normal room with a queen bed. They very severely and curtly told us, "We don't have the concept of an extra bed." This meant that I had to sleep sitting on a chair, since our child is not 2, but 11. One of the worst nights I have spent in a resort and that after paying so much.

Maravilloso hotel, muy peculiar y especial, cuidando los detalles, con muebles muy originales, muy recomendable, bien situado, un remanso de paz en el caos de la india, una parada en el camino, para recrearte con los peque?os detalles.La habitación muy amplia en edificio muy peculiar y con mucha historia. Estuvimos 2 noches muy a gusto, la piscina, tipo alberca, ideal!!! El desayuno maravilloso y el restaurante con sus asientos columpios, muy original.

The hotel was fabulous and the staff wonderful but we had a distinct feeling that we had arrived at the end of the season and things were being wound down. There were items off the menu, there was no beer and the lift was awaiting a repair. Saying that, I'm sure that this hotel would be superb because the staff were so nice, the place was so immaculately kept and the room was just gorgeous.

The bottomline is it's not worth it. What they showcase is not what you get in reality. Many things they mention as part of you category of reservation are missing. No soap in bathroom, no fruit serving for the stay. They promised breakfast ready by 7:00am, and kept blaming that the kitchen was not ready until after 7:30am, and we had to leave without. The hotel is more of a show-off than actual content.

Si vous désirez passer du temps dans l’un des plus beaux temples Chola d’Inde du Sud, il vous faut un h?tel. Pourquoi pas un coup de folie, une belle maison encensée sur son site. Prix absolument exorbitants - plus élevés que le Taj de Chennai ou un Marriott - mais bon, la beauté le vaut bien. La réalité est malheureusement TRèS différente. Si la maison a assurément du charme, elle est dans un état d’incurie préoccupant. Chambre sous le toit - batiment piscine - à éviter absolument: bruits infernaux de compresseurs d’air conditionné, ventilation des cuisines, aérations ? J’ai exigé de changer dès l’arrivée. La deuxième, plus grande, était dans les mêmes conditions.Sans boules quies, vous oubliez le sommeil . Deux interventions de plombier - une par chambre ! - pour dominer le lavabo de la salle de bain, pas possible de fermer la cabine de douche, porte en verre endommagée . Deux personnes pour baisser des rideaux - système de fils et cordes au delà de mes capacités - , trois fois carte - clé de la chambre - démagnétisée. Le restaurant: cuisine absolument délicieuse mais… compter entre 45 et 90 minutes pour recevoir votre commande. Ce qui peut susciter des réactions parfois violentes que doivent subir un personnel aussi charmant que dépassé. Tout ce petit théatre sous un air conditionné à faire tomber les ongles. J’ai demandé à trois personnes différentes de me changer un billet de 500 roupies pour laisser des tips à ces pauvres employés - ils se donnent beaucoup de peine -… ??yes sir?? mais … rien ! Je m’en suis occupé moi-même.Réception: aussi invariablement souriante qu’inefficace: chauffeur réservé trois jours avant un changement de ville, confirmé la veille par sécurité… à l’heure dite, pas de chauffeur ! ??Misunderstanding?? ! Palabres sans fins au moment de régler la note. La charmante demoiselle, à l’anglais approximatif, n’avait pas compté le prix des nuits… Après 20 minutes de tensions croissantes et contenues, d’appels au ??manager??, il est apparu que ce montant avait déjà été débité de ma carte de crédit. Misenderstanding ? En résumé: chaque jour un nouveau motif sérieux d’insatisfaction, de réclamation, Et un grand soupir de soulagement en quittant cet établissement.
