Clean room and good breakfast. Had dinner there and was surprised to see a tip automatically added. Being on the second floor was a challenge as there isn’t a lift.

Very pleasant meal and friendly staff , we’ve been here before and always enjoyed our visits , I had the venison and it was cooked to perfection , my wife had a selection of starters and sides as a main course and all were delicious , in particular the carrots with a creamy type dressing , the flavour was amazing , well done to all the front and back of house staff , a credit to the Stag

I was so looking forward to the experience of staying here. We had two rooms (1 for the adults and 1 for the older children) GOOD - Upon checking into the adult's room I was concerned as we were near the main door/laneway but it was very quiet and peaceful. - The kid's twin room in the next building was lovely and a good size. They loved their room and took plenty of selfies. - The Staff were welcoming and pleasant. - WIFI stable. - The pub was small but very pleasant AVERAGE - Maybe a shelf or somewhere to put a large suitcase. - Supply conditioner would be nice. - The venue's photos are like the rooms but there is some wear and tear you don't see and the rooms are quite small. - Neighbour bins were in the way of the carpark entrance. - Difficult to find rear carparks and def would not try in the dark. QUIRKY - Doorway and floor were all on an angle. - Short doorway SUGGESTION - Would have to have known more about the history of the buildings. Maybe a tour or history session or wall could be added.

Restaurant only review. Lunch for two and it was a very good experience. Very good standard of cooking with an interesting menu and a good selection. Pubby atmosphere with log fires made it cosy and comfy, 'pubby' without being crowded or noisy. Cooking is of a very high order indeed. We had calves liver (could have been cut a little thinner maybe), but well cooked nonetheless and venison, the latter was utterly superb. A difficult meat to cook well, but this was tender, succulent and very tasty. Good selection of vegetable side dishes, more variety than normal. All in all very good indeed. Slap in the middle of the market sq. so plenty of parking and a nice walk round lovely Stow as well.

It’s the first time i have paid ￡250 per night for a room and been forced to have dinner elsewhere as the dinning room was fully booked?? No alternative offered & apparently no priority for residents. I have stayed at this hotel on business with colleagues on 6 separate occasions, there will not be a 7th

We book the potting shed every time we stay when we can we have stayed 8 times in all and always have had breakfast included. This time although at check in we were told breakfast is included, they failed to mention only continental was included! We Didn’t know until we checked out . We were over charged for the dogs , double charge and to be honest the cleanliness of the room was well under par ! The bathroom was dirty the carpets gritty and the tables chipped and dust and cobwebs all around. They seem to have neglected that room and at ￡180:00 a night it’s not good! We have decided not to return there so an average weekend of ￡700:00 has now been lost!

We came from Reading to the stag at stow. I booked online before coming which I would 100% recommend as it is super busy! We had the ham hock, chicken and leek pie and it was the best pie I have ever had. The pastry was thin, cooked to perfection and the flavours were incredible. We also had a drink in the bar, I was recommended the wildflower cotsworld gin, I hadn’t had it before and because of the staff recommendation - I had it all weekend! I really am so pleased with the Stag at Stow, and I really am sure we will return again, this time with our families. A real diamond of a pub.

Fantastic stay - our room was outside in the Potting Shed. Thoroughly recommend this little hideaway. Staff very friendly and helpful - we had dinner on two nights, simply because it was the best food we had in Stow The pie for two was an absolute belter and you could see others asking what we were having. Well priced drinks, lovely warm almond croissants at breakfast. Thoroughly recommend

My partner and I have just returned from a wonderful stay here. Our favourite thing is to go on short getaways- one or two night stays. In the 7 years we have been together never before have we had such a wonderful time. The friendly staff and the ambiance of the cosy and beautifully decorated pub itself would be easy enough to take for granted. Add to that the amazing customer service, delicious and reasonably priced food and the friendliness of the local people has left us with memories on my birthday treat getaway that we will not forget. We hope to be back and would recommend this stay for anyone. Thank you the Stag at Stow to everyone that made our much needed trip away so fantastic. Rachel and Mike(Posty) xxx

Large room in lodge with creaky floors as expected in old pub buildings. Very comfortable bed with large bathroom. Fresh cooked breakfasts were excellent with 10/10 for poached eggs and salmon. Room well equipped. Friendly welcome and great breakfast service ,especially by Toby.
