Guest user：Lovely welcome from Sammy (makes for such a great start) to this very nice traditional pub in a typically quiet Derbyshire village on the Chatsworth estate. A nice room, which obviously once contained a king-size bed without en-suite (the huge padded bed-head on the wall a dead giveaway). Unfortunately this room has been transformed into a small double en-suite by squeezing a poky loo cubicle into the corner and installing a large claw-foot bath in the room itself, just inside the door (no shower). Decor a bit odd - as if candy-floss pink painted walls were added later and do not quite work or match with the original more subtle furnishings. Largely unexceptional room, borderline poky. Food: average pub-grub, we had a nice enough pie. Staff: very obliging, quickly changed the bottle of sparkling water in our room for still, and the pack of Estate biscuits in the room were a nice touch. Special thanks to the very obliging Sammy who located our lost sweater after our departure and had it posted back to us at no charge - really much appreciated.
Guest user：The Inn has a great location for walks to and around Bakewell and Chatsworth House. The bar area was very atmospheric and October is a good time to visit as the wood burner was radiating heat. Service was very good being friendly and efficient. For eating there is both the bar area and a more modern restaurant. We ate in the bar and you can pick and choose between both menus. This is not a review of the restaurant. The bedroom off the landing above the bar wasn't anything special but it was clean and had a very large comfortable bed. The en-suite shower room was good, brightly-lit and clean. Breakfast is served in the new restaurant and was excellent, being a mix of buffet items and order items such as full English, smoked salmon and eggs Benedict. I'm hovering between 4 and 5 stars on this one.
Guest user：A really comfortable and clean pub in which we chose to have lunch. Pleasant atmosphere. Positives: very tasty food and lovely attentive, informative service. Negatives: being addressed as 'guys'. What? Really? In this country? At our age? In a place like this? Awful! That address definitely needs to go!!!!! It isn't stuffy to call people sir and madam. Please, please change how you address your customers. Also, portion size is tiny making it very poor value for money.
Guest user：Arrived to check in and were taken to our room which was in one of the cottages, Jasmine, at about 3.45 to find that there was no heating on. When we informed the desk about this we were told to adjust the radiators to maximum. That did not work so someone came over and after checking we were told that there was a problem with the heating - it was supposed to come on automatically at 3.30. A small electric heater was supplied which was totally inadequate and we were told they would get an engineer out. Heating came on at about 5pm and so problem was sorted although nobody informed us. One would expect that .where there were rooms not connected to the main building heating should come on prior to check in time and someone should check that there isn’t a problem,.
