Hotel was traditional and full of character. Only real problem was the rooms being cold. Radiator was only hot at the bottom and stone cold at the top. The 2nd room had warm radiators, but heating was off overnight and the following morning, so it was really cold. We were given an extra blanket so 2 of us slept ok. Maybe the rooms need some sort of backup heaters for very cold nights.

A hotel with a nostalgic feel. Very comfy bed. Unfortunately we were allocated room 31 which smelt as described by others as a musty basement. The stairs in the room definitely need some sort of warning signage the steps are polished wood surface which is exceptionally slippy. My decision to score three is no reflection of the staff at the property who work hard and are lovely but the sheer fact that the smell in the room was so bad it actually spoilt the stay.

I have read some strange and alarming reviews of the Bell, which seem to overlook entirely the joy of staying in an 18th century coaching inn, that has retained much of its individualist style and decor. There is even a disused well in the centre (obviously once the yard of the inn) that you can peer down. There is a curiosity in every corner, wonderful photos and prints. However, the rooms are extremely comfortable. Some previous reviewers have complained of street noise... we certainly experienced none, but were not at the front of the building. One small modern refinement we appreciated was the lift. They have an indoor pool as well, which we didn't try.

Hotel was fab it was an old hotel and it was lovely . Staff were so friendly and food was good specially the breakfast. Our room was really big and we had a great stay . I would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to come back and stay again

Such a beautiful hotel, polite friendly staff, perfect get away with the spa too…. This is my second stay and it’s safe to say I will be back…. Thank you so much.??
