I loved Thredbo. Food at the restaurant was amazing, my only regret i had it on the last night. People who worked there were awesome, such an amazing bunch. Loved every minute of my stay

Solo trip, used this lodge as a base for Mt Kosciuszko hike. I can only describe my stay here as bizarre, starting with the check-in process. When I arrived, there was no-one at reception, but there was a note saying that the reception was staffed from 3 to 6 pm. I did manage to find a very junior staff member who gave me the key to my room, but she had no information about anything - apparently she'd only been working there for a very short time. There was still no-one at reception at 3:30 or 4 pm, so I went looking for staff who could explain how everything worked - parking, meals, or even the small things like the heater in the room. Managed to find a guy who worked in the kitchen; he did explain to me about the overnight village car parks and also said that breakfast the next morning would start at 7:30 am. The car park explanation was certainly helpful. But the breakfast information turned out to be incorrect - there was no breakfast at the lodge restaurant the next morning; in fact, as it transpired, the restaurant was completely shut all day that day. Very strange that a person working in the kitchen would not know that. This pretty much captures my experience with this place - there was simply no-one around to show the guests where everything was. The only time I ever saw anyone at reception was 1 minute prior to my departure. There was restaurant staff at the dinner service on the first night, but they didn't have any information about the hotel itself. For example, it turned out that there was a pretty decent sauna at the lodge, but I only discovered it by chance on my last night, too late to use it. Had I known about it earlier, I certainly would have used it. The car spaces by the front door were meant to be used for loading and unloading only; but because there was no staff to keep an eye on it, people were simply parking there long-term, which made loading on the day of the departure a logistical challenge. On Day 2 the lodge looked like a complete ghost town, with no staff to be found anywhere, and no-one even to ask what food establishments were open in the village. As I mentioned before, I did see someone at the reception on the morning of my departure - literally only when I handed my key in. She took the key hurriedly and didn't even bother to ask how my stay was. The absence of any hotel staff for most of my stay, and their complete lack of interest when they were there, made it a really bizarre experience.

When I made the booking through Wotif, the room was advertised as a “quadruple room” with two double beds, suitable for four guests. However, upon arrival, we were provided with a room containing only two single beds, accommodating just two people.
This is a clear misrepresentation of the booking details, and I am extremely disappointed. The staff at the lodge advised that such discrepancies are common with Wotif bookings, noting that your platform frequently provides inaccurate or misleading information.
This situation has caused considerable inconvenience and falls well short of acceptable standards. I am requesting a prompt explanation and appropriate resolution. If this matter is not addressed satisfactorily, I will consider seeking legal advice regarding the misrepresentation and its impact on our stay.

A cozy hotel with great views.
This hotel is a cozy B&B. It is a little dated, but the room was very nice. The restaurant was convenient and had quality food. The included breakfast was the best! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ski shuttle picks up right in front of the hotel and runs most of the day. The biggest downside was the internet not working, and the closest public parking was at the bottom of the hill, nearly a mile away.

Great cosy place to stay, loved the older style, it had everything available and was clean , bus stop right out the front. Beautiful view of mountain. Beds were very comfy. Bathroom modern and nice and clean, with a bath! Heater in rooms. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay again.

I absolutely love this place and it pains me to not be able to give 5 stars across the board, but the reality is they did not service our room once and the wifi didn’t work. It’s still absolutely awesome though, the staff are great and the restaurant and bar are literally among my favourites in the world! At $500 a night though, you should really make up the rooms like you say you do on the door.

A Thredbo haven
Candlelight Lodge may not be up there with their more modern competitors but it does have character and comfort in spades. Well located with just a short stroll to the Village and marvellous views from all the bedrooms. An added bonus is the cooked breakfast and cosy pub located on the bottom level. Staff are welcoming and accommodating.

Friendly, down to earth vibe and wonderful view! Also the delicious bar that had such codiness, warmth and the most fantastic range of beers.

Greeted by a lovely lady who checked us in with ease and quickly escorted us to our room. Given a number to call if any issues arise and provided info on where to go for food/drinks. The room was lovely, warm and clean and the view amazing! Would stay again.
