Guest：Fairly non-descript pub a short walk from the castle that hides brilliant food and great atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff, and did I mention the food was great? Very good, and great value. Seemed popular with the locals which is always a good sign.
Guest：We were first timers at the pub and we found the staff very friendly and welcoming. The service was attentive. There was a good choice on the menu and the food was really lovely. I wish it was my local. Karaoke on a Saturday night was alot of fun. Thank you for a great night.
Guest：Good find. Great owners and staff. Breakfast was excellent. Location is good for seeing all the sights. Room is small, but perfect for a weekend stay. Very clean. Parking is right outside the room. I'm a light sleeper so could do with thicker/darker blinds.
Guest：What an absolutely fabulous overnight stay from start to finish. I love love love this pub and quaint accommodation. Will definitely be back all the way from Kent. The history of the place is fascinating. The rooms were clean warm and comfortable. Loved seeing little Betty the resident terrier up on her balcony. Julie and the rest of the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was to die for. The outside area with heaters and views of the Foss was so cosy. And the 60s and 70s music was great. Honestly didn't want to leave to catch our train!
