Good meet at reception, room was clean, warm , perfectly adequate. WiFi consistent but weak.

The hotel team were very friendly, the room was immaculate, the bed very comfortable, facilities good, location convenient and all well organised for reasonable cost.

Did not get room i paid for which was booked through *******. The photos of the room booked were not the room which we where allocated. I went to reception to say we had wrong room, only to be told that we had to take that up with ******* she said we were down as a double room and that the balcony rooms were classed as superior. I showed her my booking and said ******* class it as a standard feature and showed her the photos that went with the booking, only for her to say that they were not responsible for photos. The room in which we stayed was very dated especially the bathroom. There was no lid on the toilet seat, there was rust on chrome, crack in a couple of tiles and a very overall look of tiredness. The bed however, was compfy and the sheets and towels very clean. I think we had expected one type of room onlt to recieve a not so good one. The receptionist was less than helpful. We were very disappointed. I am still waiting to hear back through *******

Hello Janice,I am very sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately we do not publish our room adverts in-house and therefore the error does not lie with hotel staff. We will however investigate this so this mistake does not happen again. Parking was very limited and open to public access. No apparent cctv coverage either. Due to a private function we could not use the hotel restaurant - it would have been helpful to have been advised of this beforehand as we struggled to find anywhere to eat. Our room was clean but very dated and shabby. Beds were not that comfortable and there were no plug sockets by the beds to charge phones etc. The bathroom - like the bedroom - was very dated and in need of a refit. Breakfast the next morning was the worst part of our stay. Overcooked, rock hard bacon, undercooked sausages and to top it all, mouldy bread! Overall it was very disappointing. We have stayed at the hotel before and enjoyed it a lot. The place needs some investment and refurbishment.

Hello Rob,Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.We do offer two separate car parks to guests, a smaller one directly outside of reception, and a larger one along the river out the back. This is of course on a first come first served basis so we cannot always guarantee there will be spaces available.Unfortunately when we have large private functions on, the kitchen must close to other guests temporarily in order to ensure there is room to prep and cook the food required for the function. This information should have been relayed upon check-in so you were able to make alternative arrangements should you wish to eat in the time period the kitchen was closed.We are due a full refurbishment which will upgrade our bedrooms and bathrooms and hopefully include the addition of smaller things like plug sockets next to the beds.I am very disappointed to read about your experience of breakfast with us. This is not the standards we hold ourselves to here at The Bell and I can only apologise.We hope you will visit us again.Kind regards,The Bell Hotel

Great staff. They were very helpful when it came to answering to our requests. All staff were very friendly. Speedy and easy check in and excellent value.

Parking was ok, after we discovered another overflow car park. Room was clean and comfortable. It was so noisy with traffic and people outside our window. Not helped by a coach arriving with tourists at 5.40am,laughing and chatting loudly. I did discover that our window was stuck open in the morning,when I reported to the reception they said oh yes we know several people have complained. No apology from anyone, they just said they're waiting for it to be sorted out. I was really disappointed as I've stayed her a couple of times now.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpfull especially the ladies serving in the restaurant at breakfast time. The only minus point is the poor state of the fittings in the bathroom, both the toilet and the bath are in need of urgent replacement.

Returned to home town for school reunion so knew the hotel was central and in a good location, staff on reception were very helpful and friendly but generally the hotel just seemed tired and in need of decoration, shower was warm despite a sign warning you to be careful of hot water and the bath was worn and stained and furniture had handles missing and was chipped. Appreciate it is an old building so furniture and decoration is in line with age of property

There for Dads Army tour visit We stayed Saturday 12th April for just the one night. Ample car parking and a warm welcome at reception. We had room 11 with a balcony it is very basic but clean. A bath with shower overhead plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. A sofa bed and coffee table by the window. No hairdryer available in the room and only one hand towel. We didnt have dinner in the hotel but chose a local restaurant. Breakfast was cooked to order, nice to see strawberries and blueberries along with yogurt. A comfortable stay but needs some TLC its looking a little tired. We liked Thetford itself lots to see if you like history we were visiting as we had tickets booked for Dads Army tour. Highly recommended great museum too.
