Visited the Whistledown many times but have never stayed over until now. What an absolute gem of a hotel. We were offered an upgrade for 20 pound and wow was it worth it. The room was spectacular with a beautiful seaview, warm and cosy and loads of room. Dinner was gorgeous in the restaurant, staff can't do enough for you. Had a few drinks in the bar which was lovely, quiet but then again it is January! Breakfast was so nice with the food fresh and tasty. Amy Lee looked after us then and last night in the bar. We definitely will stay again in the summer time when the festivals are on. The hotel is so beautifully decorated inside and out.

We stayed for one night for my husband's birthday - Lazy Sunday deal. On arrival, we were upgraded and I have to say, we never experienced service like it. Nothing was a problem to the staff. We also had a meal in the restaurant. We have travelled to many countries, and 100%, the food was outstanding. Delicious, hot and extremely tasteful.

The Christmas meal for the Forget me not Group was a magnificent gesture by Sarah and Colum at The Whistledown Hotel. The Banqueting room was packed and the staff were highly organised as they buzzed around serving the delicious looking Christmas lunch. Tables were beautifully and aptly decorated with Christmas crackers and Christmas candles. Christmas music in the background. Despite being hugely busy, the staff were so friendly, personable and consummate professionals. I went there to help but was also served a Christmas lunch. One could only look on in wonder and amazement at the generosity and energy at Colum and Sarah. A beautiful experience. A truly joyous occasion and one that met a need of a group of people with a great spirit of generosity Doreen

From the moment we arrived, we could feel that it was going to be a special stay. We were given access to our rooms before check-in time. The hotel is family-owned and a local who started talking to me one night described the lady who runs it as an "angel". The location, facing the sea, with mountains on both sides of the water, is truly magical. The food in the restaurant is excellent, using fresh locally-sourced ingredients. The views from the large windows are stunning and on the first night at dinner, we were asked if we wanted to move to a table by the window, as soon as it became available to better enjoy the view. Breakfast is delicious, with generous portions and the welcome and service was the friendliest I have ever experienced anywhere. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The large bar downstairs is stocked with a fine selection of local whiskies and gins and the barman is very knowledgeable and friendly. You are made to feel valued and special and it is a very good feeling staying somewhere that's held in such high esteem by the local community. We only stayed for two nights, but look forward to be back again soon! It was hard leaving, but given the warm welcome to be enjoyed all over Northern Ireland and the relatively mild weather, stunning scenic beauty and wealth of cultural activities; I'm confident that a stay at any time of year would be unforgettable. A big thank you to everyone who made our stay so special! We were very lucky to find the hotel. It's the perfect place to stay... where the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea!

Just had an amazing stay with our local Rambling club for 3 nights in the Whistledown ....couldn't speak highly enough about our stay from start to finish!!!....lvly comfortable accommodation...excellent cleanliness...rooms sorted daily....delicious breakfasts n evening meal..staff very friendly and accommodating of every request...couldn't have been more helpful. Would recommend Whistledown for both its setting and hospitality without reservation Member of Dgn n district Ramblers club

Visited here today, my partner ordered the fish goujons ( ￡18 ) and when they came out, there were 2 goujons on a bed of greasy chips. They also weren't overly large goujons and 1 had little to no fish inside

The room was brilliant, the food was first class and kudos on the bar man, James. I had went to meet a friend i hadn't seen in six years, and the level of hospitality was incredible, so tolerant and accommodating to our every request. he really made the experience top notch, the best bar man i’ve met in many day of drinking. will be back!

Excellent hotel so relaxing nothing a problem for the staff who were a credit to the hotel first time there but will definitely be back

Booked for my son in law and my birthday in the restaurant upstairs. Beautiful window table with a lovely view. We enjoyed a selection of starters, chicken wings and beef chilli spring rolls which were delicious. For mains four of us enjoyed roast beef, lamb and turkey and ham. Portions are huge, meat was very tender all served with ample potatoes, stuffing and vegetables. The rest had chicken burger, chicken curry and chicken wings as a main. We all were so full but of course went on to have dessert. The pavlova and cheesecake was so good. Excellent food and service. Staff are very attentive. My husband and I stayed over and enjoyed the music in the bar with 'Just Me'. Room was spotless and bed was very cosy. We loved our beautiful breakfast, served by Siobhan. Eve and Katie. The Whistledown is our one time favourite place we love to celebrate family occasions in. Thank you team Whistledown for another excellent stay!
